Drumming by the Dragon Fire Drummers who start out with the song Zulu Dawn. This is a large but otherwise typical Summer Pagan festival night around the central ritual fire.
Premiered Aug 9, 2024. Heilung Iotungard was filmed and recorded at Red Rocks Amphitheater 2021. The full LIFA Iotungard album can be bought here: https://orcd.co/lifaiotungard
This well done tribute to Heilung tells the story of the start of the phenomenon of Heilung. This is the spiritual journey of Maria Franz, Kai Uwe Faust, and Christopher Juul. Three fates, who all found healing and meaning in the Norse culture, and who trough twist and turns ended up being at the forefront at the movement which aims to show and make one feel the power in the animistic ways.
(January 5, 2025) Another song in Old Norse.
Lyfjaberg. The Old Norse word Lyfjaberg means Healing-hill or Healing-mountain and is known from Norse mythology and the Eddic poem Fjölsvinnsmál as a place of comfort and cure for the ‘sick and sore’ who manage to climb the mountain and bear offerings at the shrines there – a gift demands a gift in return.
(October 8, 2024) By Philip Shallcrass who is known as Greywolf in the Druid and Pagan communities. The following is his description of this video:
A probably traditional tune used for an Irish lament written by blind bard, Antoine Ó Raifteiri (1779-1835), for twenty people from Annaghdown (Eanach Dhúin) who drowned on September 4th 1828 when their boat went down whilst carrying them to a fair in Galway. 140 years later, Robin Williamson used the tune for his beautiful and uplifting song, 'The Circle Is Unbroken,' from the 1968 Incredible String Band album, 'Wee Tam & the Big Huge.' It became 'The Roundhouse Tune' because I played it so often during breaks while building the reconstructed Iron Age roundhouse that's featured in the film. A Wren made her nest in the roundhouse while we were building it. Her three chicks used to join in with delightful, twittering choruses every time I played the tune.
The film follows the roundhouse through building its structure, thatching and re-thatching its roof, and creating ceremonies in it. It also shows it through all four seasons. A couple of those who appear in the film have since journeyed on to the Otherworld. May they be blessed.
For those who like the techie stuff, I'm playing a B flat 'Generation' penny whistle and the recording was done on a Zoom H4n Pro Handy Recorder. Reverb and echo applied using Audacity, a truly beautiful example of open source software. The video was put together using the OpenShot video editor, another brilliant piece of open source software.
Words by Isaac Watts 1719. This originally Christian hymn has many allusions to nature and does not insert any dogmatic apocalyptic ideology. "God" is a personification of all the divine powers.
